Consultant neuroradiologist

Specialises in adult and paediatric neuroradiology including spontaneous intracranial hypotension and spinal CSF leaks.

Biography

Dr Lalani Carlton Jones practices in adult and paediatric neuroradiology at Guy’s and St Thomas’s and Evelina London Children’s Hospital.

She graduated from the University of Cambridge with first class honours in 2004 before receiving her masters from the same institution in 2007. She won the Titular Scholarship and then qualified in medicine from Imperial College in 2007 with distinctions in clinical science and clinical practice.

She trained in neurology and neurosurgery before entering general radiology training in London and then completing the pan-London neuroradiology fellowship. She was appointed as a consultant neuroradiologist in 2018.

Special/ research interests

Dr Lalani Carlton Jones holds national teaching roles as a vice-president for the UK Imaging and Oncology congress, the UK’s largest radiology conference, as a Royal College of Radiologists FRCR Part 1 examiner and a member of the Royal College of Radiologists’ REAL (Radiology and Learning from Error) panel.

She has authored multiple peer-reviewed journal articles, oral presentations, invited lectures and chaired conference sessions and has been awarded several prestigious national and international awards and prizes for her work. These include winning the Kings Health Partners Innovation in Education award, British Society of Neuroradiologists Isherwood travelling scholarship, Royal College of Radiologists JRF Trainer of the Year nomination, RCR National Vera Ansell audit prize as well as several conference awards for winning presentations and exhibits including the RSNA (Radiological Society of North America).

Lalani has a keen interest in education, recently completing a masters degree in Medical Education and is an educational programme lead for the British Society of Neuroradiologists. She is an honorary senior clinical lecturer at King’s College London. Furthermore, Lalani has founded and directed several national teaching radiology courses, as well as serving as neuroradiology lead for UKIO and the Royal College of Radiologists annual conferences.
