Dr Robson began his medical studies at Oxford University, where he obtained a First Class undergraduate degree in 1989, and then went to London for clinical studies. He trained in nephrology at King’s College and Guy’s Hospitals. Following the award of an MRC clinical training fellowship and research into glomerulonephritis, he gained a PhD from Imperial College in 2000. He has been a consultant nephrologist at Guy’s and St Thomas’ since 2002. His clinical practice covers all aspects of renal medicine including nephrology, dialysis and transplantation.
Dr Robson runs a laboratory-based research programme in glomerulonephritis and seeks to understand mechanisms of disease in order to discover new treatments. He also undertakes work in clinic trials. He was Chief Investigator in the PAVE trial, a multi-centre clinical trial funded by the National Institute for Health Research, aimed at preserving vascular access for haemodialysis. He has been the lead site investigator for a number of other studies.
Outside work he is a keen musician and plays the piano and cello. He also enjoys painting.
